Geek Mythology

It may have become obvious in previous posts, but for those who do not understand my lingo;
I am a Geek.
Both my Mother and My Father are oober Geeks.... Each in their own, unique way, but none the less Geeky. Yes, we are aware of SteamPunk, and Stargate, and Outer Limits. Yes, we watch Doctor Who, and Doctor Horrible. Yes, my Mother is a Civil War historian, my Father is Tall, Dark, Slightly Neanderthal and Scottish.

But I am my
own kind of Geek altogether.
Since the age of eight, I have been studying Greek, Norse, and some Celtic Mythology. Just a year ago, I finished the entire Mythology section of our towns local library (note: only the listed above! some Mythologies are just
too weird).
I thought being a Geek couldn't get any better!
Until I discovered Crytozoology. And the Faery. And Aliens. And Shakespeare.
And I can honestly say my story plots improved greatly after my Mother introduced me to Charles DeLindt, and Jennifer Robinson.

I write stories about a island in an alternate dimension from ours, adrift in a sea of liquid sky topaz..... An island called Imaga World.
It has Centaurs, and Satyrs, and Minotaurs, and Faery, and Dragons, and all sorts of other goodies. I am also writing a set of stories about a land called LinDante, which follows the life of a fourteen year old girl named Tianna Thresh. unlike Imaga World, this is a more Northerly country of dark, cold waters, Selkie, Banshee
storms, and Faery gates.
Indeed, I am a scribe of many things.

I hope to be able to post my stories in the future!
until then, keep dreaming! Lady Anne of the Island of Imaga World ~*~

P.S.

Baker, Babysitter

Today, as I bring you this report, I am sitting at home, watching Avie and Kitty. May not sound like much, until you have lived with Kitty five years, and Avie two. Kitty, though adorable and beguiling, is not what she seems. for she has another nick-name; Spicy Child.
and it is not without merit.
She's like a little-bitty can of JalapeƱos..... Do not doubt their power! Kitty can be a harmless little child, and the next moment, her spice could be eating your eyes out of your skull!

As for Avie..... Have you ever babysat Jack-Jack, from The Incredibles?
Let's leave it at that, shall we?

The reason I'm watching these silly Knights ( K-Nig-Ehts..... Family silliness), is that Mom is out of town, and Dad is at Scouts with Coliflower.

Sigh.....

As holder of the position of babysitter, I also had to make breakfast.
They didn't want pancakes, because we had those yesterday.
They didn't want eggs.
Or cake.
Noooo, the only thing they want is biscuits. Great.
I am really, really, really, really (can I add one more?), REALLY bad at biscuits. as in hard crispy lumps, good only for the ducks..... Luckily, we have some, because we have lots left.

Sigh.....

Pancake Tasty: Cranberry Pancakes

As hard as it may be to believe, I have a person in my family that really, really, really dislikes pancakes.
'Tis true!
About a month ago I was bored--- Bad things tend happen when I'm bored, but sometimes pancakes are born--- Dad and Mum were headed to physical therapy (Dad injured himself a few months back), leaving me home with the Sibs; Avie, Kitty, and Coliflower, the pancake-hater
Oh, and those are their nick-names, so don't think we're total weirdos.
Soon as the Parents were gone, I began to root around in the fridge, and found all manner of "Science Experiments"..... I think everyone living in the same house with five or more people understand this.... And found a small container of Cranberries. Then, my inner cook kicked in.
I used the same idea as the Betty Crocker Applesauce Pancake Recipe (NO MIXES ALLOWED!), and mixed in the Cranberries, added some cinnamon, and slopped 'em on the griddle.
Finally, once they were done, and after much begging, Coliflower tried them..... and kept eating. And eating. And eating! All in all He devoured three pancakes!
and so, my goal of pancake-domination has been fulfilled!

And, because it would rude to leave you wondering, here is the recipe:

1 egg
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup canned cranberries
2 tbsp vegetable oil (safflower is wonderful too!)
1 cup flour
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt
As much cinnamon as you like!

Beat all ingredients except cranberries until smooth.
Grease heated griddle (real butter-- no cheating!).
to test griddle, sprinkle with e few drops of water. If
bubbles skitter around, heat is perfect! pour batter onto
hot griddle. Turn pancakes as soon as they are puffed
and full of bubbles. Cook other side until golden.

I wish I could give you the number of pancakes this batter makes, but I make HUGE pancakes, so it wouldn't be a good example!

Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Pancakes and Pixies

Hello Blogging world!

I am a young woman living in a small city, an average girl of no consequence. But nothing is what it seems; for instance, unless you saw me running around with pheasant feathers in my hair for antennae, you would never know I do such things, and unless I pick up a pencil and paper, you would never know I work hard toward being a better artist. And unless you come over for breakfast, you'll never know what's on the griddle today.... for all you know, it could be lemon pancakes with a strawberry syrup (A.K.A., Strawberry Lemonade pancakes). Fact is, appearances are, more often than not, a very small part of a person.

So join me, as I battle spilled syrup, wrecked crafts, and mosquitoes. Fend for myself in the never ending hunt for edible goodies, and the quest for awesome baked goods!
